Australia's Premier Junior Tour
The DBR Australia 2009 Junior and Women's Canberra Tour will be held over the period Fri 3 July to Sun 5 July 2009.
Roads closed for racing
The DBR Australia 2009 tour will be raced over roads closed to traffic and with speed limits on the roads reduced to 60 kph for those local people who need access to their homes. This is a major safety enhancement but has meant major changes to the courses and timings for some grades. Check out the Stage & Results section of the website for the new courses and timings.
Format
The DBR Australia Tour is recognised as a Category 1 NRS tour. The Open Women and the U19W will be competing equally for points towards the NRS competition.
In 2009 the Open Women and Under 19 Men and Women's categories tour will include a Criterium on Saturday afternoon. The Tour for these categories is a four stage tour but the distance for the Saturday Road Race has been reduced to allow the addition to the program of the extra criteriums.
2009 will again have a flexible race format for the Open Women and Under 19 Men and Women's categories. Riders will be able to choose to enter the Tour and race for GC, KOM and stage honours or enter individual stages and race only in stages of their choice. This option has not been extended to other Junior categories who will still need to enter the Tour and race all stages.
Women's B Grade
Women's B Grade will again be offered in 2009. See the event entry page for further details.
Para Cycling Time Trial
Race organisers also plan to offer the opportunity for Para Cycling athletes to participate in a Time Trial on Sunday afternoon following the last of the JM17 riders. The Para Cycling Time Trial will be open to any athlete and entry will be free. Riders will need to provide prior advice that they intend to particpate in the event and complete and submit a day licence available here . Download further information and contact details here.
